Well London Family Fun Day Event at the VGCC

On the 8th of March 2014, we hosted a family fun day in partnership with Well London, the event kicked off with a carnival parading around the estate provided by the SC Warriors from South Connections bringing everyone to the main event at the VGCC.

We hosted a range of activities at the centre from Laughter Yoga to Jewellery Making, Arts and Crafts to Aerobics!

We also had stalls from TUC, Topaz, Lambeth Living, Vauxhall City Farm (and a petting zoo!), Creative Sparkworks, VGERTA, Well London, Vauxhall One, NHS Check Up and Healthy Eating, KCL Dental Students, Vauxhall Children’s Centre and VGCC.

All topped off with fabulous vegan and vegetarian food provided by Margarete Baur and entertainment provided in the form of a sing-a-long by Marge Henderson as well as a screening of the “Lambeth Boys” courtesy of Alford House

Christmas Party 2013

The party ran from 12 – 5pm during which the guests were treated to a warm and cold buffet, knees up old time sing-a-long, karaoke and a fabulous raffle with nearly 50 prizes.

The guests who attended had the opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Those who weren’t familiar with the centre were able to see the facilities on offer. Everyone who attended was well fed and there was enough food for everyone to take home as well as the remainder being able to be given to the local food bank to benefit an even broader demographic of local residents such as young families in need over the Christmas period.

All in all the party was a massive success, we were pleased to have support from our MP Kate Hoey who attended and we are already thinking about how to improve it for next year.

Christmas Party Thank You!

We just held our Christmas Party for the Over 60’s on Friday the 13th December, 2013, a great time was had by all and pictures and a video are to follow but in the mean time we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made this possible! They are as follows:

Thank you to Tesco (Kennington, Black Prince Road and St. George’s Wharf Branches) for their raffle prize donations totalling around £70 worth of prizes

Thank you to Nandos Vauxhall for their raffle prize of a meal for four people

Thank you to the EDF London Eye for their raffle prize donation of four adult tickets for the London Eye

Thank you to Italo Deli for their raffle prize donation of a voucher

Thank you to Kennington Tandoori for their raffle prize donation of a meal for two with a bottle of wine

Thank you to The Black Dog pub for their raffle prize donation of a bottle of English sparkling wine

Thank you to Madiera – Luis Deli for the raffle prize donation of assorted biscuits as well as a traditional orange sponge cake for the party to be enjoyed by the guests

Thank you to the Tea House Theatre for their raffle prize donation of a voucher for a Duchess Tea for Two and baking a victoria sponge for the party to be enjoyed by the guests

Thank you to the Windmill Florists for their raffle prize donation of a white poinsettia

Thank you to Mimosa Vauxhall for baking a victoria sponge for the party to be enjoyed by the guests

Thank you to P J Frankland and Son Butchers for supplying us with the meat for the party to be enjoyed by the guests

Thank you to New Covent Garden for donating fruit and vegetables which helped cater for the party

Thank you to Margarete Baur from Bonnington Cafe for baking a fantastic selection of biscuits and sweet treats for the party to be enjoyed by the guests

2013 AGM

We held our AGM on Saturday 2nd November which was successful and had good attendance. The new management committee are due to meet soon to discuss how they can continue to help the centre improve in it’s community outreach.

Employee Volunteering Day

We were lucky enough to have a team of KPMG employees organised through CSV Employee Volunteering come and paint the main hall and other areas of the community centre for us! They did a great job and the building is looking great with a new coat of paint, thanks to the team and Alice our centre manager for all their hard work!
